Holy Trinity Primary School is the only Catholic PYP school in the Australian Capital Territory. The school has cultivated a rich learning environment, fostering a strong sense of community where students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. The school effectively aligns its identity and mission with that of the International Baccalaureate. The school's Programme Development Plan demonstrates a targeted approach to enhancing mathematics education. This initiative has provided valuable feedback, further enriching students' conceptual understanding of mathematics. The entire Holy Trinity Primary School community embodies the principles of an IB education. The school's leadership team and teachers, driven by passion and dedication, are committed to ongoing, sustainable school improvement and programme development.
We welcome the Greech family to Kinder White and our community who have relocated to Canberra, we know they will enjoy being a part of Holy Trinity.
Last Friday Year 1 Red shared their learning throughout their year long How We Express Ourselves Inquiry. The retelling of Goldilocks and the 3 Dinosaurs was extremely entertaining and reflected the innovating on the text that Year 1 learners have been experimenting with in class. Goffin Productions presented 2 videos of the wonderful ways the students have been learning in the classroom and beyond, sharing their excursions to both Calthropes' House and The Story Dogs at Tuggeranong Library.
Tomorrow we will be holding the Confirmation Retreat with students from the Parish, Sts Peter and Paul and our Year 6 students. The students have been working on the skills of kicking, handballing and marking in the weekly sessions. If the weather holds up on the weekend perhaps you could head to the park or your backyard and ask your child to share some of these skills with you!
As part of the Census we are preparing our documentation for the NCCD. If you have any questions about the NCCD please reach out to our classroom support specialists, Rose Lee or Janice McDevitt.

Expressing emotions through visual art
Our ELC classes continue to explore the different ways that people express themselves, and in particular, express feelings and emotions. The children have been supported to better recognise their own feelings and the possible corresponding body signals. How do you feel? What do you notice about how your body feels? With this in mind, the children are being encouraged to tune into how others are feeling too, by noticing different body language.
Children have recently been invited to use and experiment with acrylic paint to visually express their experiences, ideas and emotions. Naturally, each of our three classes has explored emotional expression through painting in varied ways...
Black Cockatoos - explored the work of Picasso, focussing on his Blue Period and how these artworks express a feeling. The children then had their own turn of creating an artwork using only tints and shades of blue paint.
Rock Wallabies - worked on a collaborative artwork, by choosing colours, space and even different styles of music to paint to. Some children were very serious, while others were playful.
Ground Parrots - gathered supplies and created individual artworks. While painting, the children were prompted with reflective questions... How do you feel? How do you want to feel? What colours, shapes and forms convey the feeling?

Holy Trinity ELC now has a Facebook page, which we encourage you to follow. We will post updates, reminders and share some of the wonderful learning experiences that our children get up to.

Redevelopment of Our House Group Identities - Part 2
Please find below part 2 of the stories of our new House Group identities. See Week 6's Newsletter for more information on the background of the redevelopment.
Malunggang
Malunggang is the Ngunnawal word for platypus.
Malunggang, the playtpus, is the symbol for this house group. They lead with the value of hope, the earth element of water and the colour blue.
Hope, much like water, flows as a powerful symbol of renewal and sustenance. Just as water is essential for life to flourish, hope is essential for the human spirit to thrive. Water has the ability to carve its path through the toughest terrain, as hope can guide us through life's challenges, shaping our perspectives and choices. Water's capacity to cleanse and rejuvenate finds its parallel in how hope can cleanse our hearts and minds, washing away despair and revitalizing our outlook. At Holy Trinity we find hope in all situations and are inspired to bring hope to others.
