Dear Parents and Carers,
We are at a wonderfully exciting time in the Holy Trinity school year with the plans for Exhbition coming to fruition, swimming lessons happening from K-5 and the sounds of Christmas Carols permeating the music room. It is also the tiring time of the year as we approach the end of Term 4. How do we manage and support our children through this energy sapping time? One critical answer is helping them get enough sleep.
Meg Durham has a great podcast and it's worth taking the time for all of us to listen to in support of our children, and our own sleep habits and sleep health. I highly recommend this to you. Meg talks with Professor Roxanne Prichard about
- How good sleep affects our brain function, energy, immunity and wellbeing.
- The serious detrimental effects that poor sleep can have on our bodies, leaving us more prone to anxiety and depression disorders.
- What we can do to listen to our bodies and improve our sleep habits and health
Global Schools Partners
This week we welcomed Simon Carroll from Global Schools Partners who shared with the children about our sister school in Kenya, Evaland Hekima. Simon shared photos of the school and how they now have shutters on their windows to keep the rain and wind out, but how then it can be difficult to see because they have no electricity. It was a great opportunity for us to reflect and be grateful for everything we have in our lives. We had a letter from Eden and Faith the students we sponsor thanking us for their opportunities to learn. We were very happy to hand over $3000.00 to Simon which we have raised across 2024.
Colour Run Fun!
What fabulous afternoon we had last Friday with our learners from ELC to Year 6 participating in the Colour Run. This event was hosted by our Community Council volunteers and our Year 4 teachers and students who supported with the planning and organisation on the day as part of their Who We Are Inquiry. With obstacles of hay, hoops and ladders the students ran and laughed being painted in colour from enthusiastic helpers! It was amazing to see all our helpers who were very happy to end up painted from head to toe, giving up their time to join us for this event. A special thank you to all the volunteers and to Cath Day and Sarah Hassan for their coordination of this fundraiser.
Fete News
Our Fete preparations for March 2025 are well underway. We will be celebrating the diversity in our communinty at the Multi Cultural Fete and invite members of the community to let us know how we can represent their cultures. This may be through a food/drink stall, entertainment such as dancing or singing or through the arts. Please contact us to let us know your ideas or a group we can invite to the event.
We are also calling for stall coordinators, these parents will lead the organisation of a particular stall but will be ably assisted by classes or year groups, teachers and the Fete Committee. As a stall coordinator this is a great opportunity to connect with your child's class/year group.
We are reaching out to businesses who are able to provide sponsorship or prizes for the raffle and chocolate wheel.
If you are keen to get involved, have any ideas or contacts please reach out prue.sheargold@cg.catholic.edu.au
On Monday we will begin our Advent preparations at school with Year 4 presenting the first Week of Advent Liturgy at 9.15am.
Enjoy your weekend and may you find time to slow down and reap the benefits of some quality sleep.

Global School Partners Assembly – Monday 18 November 2024
On Monday afternoon we welcomed Simon Carroll, CEO and Founder of Global School Partners to address our whole school assembly. He spoke on behalf of Evaland Hekima, our sister school in Kenya. He spoke about how our previous fundraising efforts have contributed throughout this past year.
We also presented Simon with a cheque for $3,000 from our recent fundraising efforts. Students were enthralled to see just how far their money can go and how great a difference we can make to the lives of other students around the world.
Reminder - St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Over the next few weeks students are asked to donate at least one item each towards the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. These items will be combined to fill hampers for families in the Canberra region.
Each year group has been allocated a food type to put in a collection basket that will be in each classroom. These donations will be presented to a St Vincent de Paul representative at our Thanksgiving Mass (Monday, Week 8).
Thank you very much for your generosity to those in need in our community during this Christmas season.

Todd Woodbridge Cup Finals
On Monday 18th November, our incredible Holy Trinity 3-4 tennis team took to the courts at Sydney Olympic Park for the Todd Woodbridge Cup finals. From over 800 teams across NSW/ACT, our team’s remarkable journey led them all the way to the grand final, where they narrowly missed victory by just one set. Finishing as runners-up and among the top two teams in the state is a monumental achievement—our students have every reason to hold their heads high with pride!
The day was filled with excitement, skillful play, and displays of exceptional sportsmanship. Our students demonstrated resilience and teamwork, giving it their all in every match. A special highlight of the day was meeting Todd Woodbridge himself, who was happy to take photos and sign tennis gear. It was a memorable moment for all!
A huge thank you goes out to the parents who made the journey to Sydney to support the team. Your encouragement and dedication mean so much to our school community.
Congratulations to our amazing tennis team and Brendan Roweth for their outstanding efforts, both on and off the court. You’ve made Holy Trinity Primary School proud!
Netball Gala Day Fun for Our Year 3/4 Students!
Last week, our enthusiastic Year 3/4 students had the opportunity to participate in a Netball Gala Day, and what a fantastic day it was!
For many of the students, this was their first time playing netball, making it a wonderful chance to learn new skills, work as a team, and try out an exciting sport. Our experienced players stepped up to support their teammates, sharing their knowledge and offering encouragement to ensure everyone felt confident on the court. It was heartwarming to see the students working together, cheering each other on, and building new friendships through sport.
The day was made even more special thanks to our amazing parent volunteers who gave up their time to coach and umpire. Your guidance and enthusiasm not only helped the players improve but also made the event run smoothly. We are so grateful for your dedication and support—it wouldn’t have been the same without you!
