Faithful God,
You guide us on the path of life
and your goodness is our constant companion.
Be with our new Shepherd, Pope Leo XIV,
in his service of the Church.
Fill him with the power of your Spirit,
the peace of your presence
and the compassion of Christ.
May he walk with you,
in wisdom and humility,
and lead us, together with all God’s people,
to embody your love for the world.
Amen.
Dear Friends,
On Friday morning we awoke to the news that the white smoke had risen out of the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, signalling that the Cardinals had voted and that a new Pope had been chosen. Our Church was delighted to acknowledge the appointment of Pope Leo XIV to lead our Church. A Statement from Archbishop Christopher Prowse on the election of Pope Leo XVI included the following:
We now enter a time of prayer as Pope Leo XIV prepared for his formal installation and begins his ministry as the Bishop of Rome. With gratitude for the legacy of Pope Francis, we move forward with confidence, trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us through this Jubilee pilgrimage of hope. I ask all the faithful to join me in prayer for Pope Leo XIV as he undertakes this God given mission.
As we continue enrolment period at Holy Trinity, it always gives me such pride and joy to listen to our Year 6 leaders as they take prospective families on a tour around our school. They speak from the heart, with such love and passion about Holy Trinity School and ELC, and the great learning opportunities it provides. I sincerely thank all our Year 6 leaders who volunteered to help with the three Open Day and night sessions and to members of our Community Council- Sarah Hassan, Sarah Kendall, Courtney Kokic-Schmidt and Michelle Cains,- who also gave of their time to talk to interested families. It also warms my heart when I hear so many of the parents at enrolment interviews talk about the reputable strength of our school being the caring, engaged, welcoming and inclusive Catholic community.
Community Council AGM Tuesday 20th May 6:30pm
Next Tuesday night we will be holding our Community Council AGM where all elective positions are open, and I encourage parents who wish to be involved in any way, to attend. Parents are also invited to nominate for a committee member, or a specific working party group. Many of these are already set up, and are just needing some extra support. Some of our working groups include Clothing pool, emergency meals, communications, fund-raising and community events.
The Council is a crucial point of connection between the Principal, school leaders and members of the School community. While the Council does not have governance responsibility or decision-making authority in relation to the School, the Council provides a means for members of the community to share their skills and talents for the common good, and a forum for the Principal and school leadership to draw on the collective wisdom and insights of the parent cohort. The Council operates in accordance with the School Community Council Charter, and the Council Executive provides leadership to the broader Council. If you would like to know more about our Council, please contact our current Chair, Cath Day (0413 319 899). If you are interested in being a part of our Community Council this year, please fill in the nomination below and send back to me by tomorrow, Friday 16th of May,or leave st the front office, thank you.

We are very excited to have our Play Equipment project completed and our students are certainly enjoying playing here. A HUGE thank you again to our all the parents and friends in our community whose fund raising efforts over the past few years enabled this project for our children.
The Cool Little Kids program is an early intervention program targeted at caregivers of three to six year old children who exhibit excessive shyness, separation anxiety and lack of confidence.
The program equips caregivers with both knowledge and practical skills for how to help their child manage and overcome anxiety.
If you think your child would benefit from these programs or for more information, please email emily.capper@cg.catholic.edu.au by next Friday 23 May. We have also asked teachers to nominate students in their class, who they think would benefit from the program. We will be starting in week 6 of this term.
Thank you to Year 2 for a beautiful prayer assembly last Friday, celebrating the gift of mothers and mother figures in our lives. It was so wonderful to see so many of our community attend this at our Parish Church and our afternoon tea afterwards. We have other special occasion coming up this term- we look forward to our class assembly tomorrow and our Athletics Carnival next Wednesday at the Woden Athletics track.
We are looking for volunteers for our Athletics Carnival next Wednesday May 21, if you are available please fill in the form here.
There are a few families in our community, currently facing serious personal challenges. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Have a wonderful weekend and a peace-filled week ahead with your beautiful families.

Rostrum: Celebrating Public Speaking
This week, our Year 4-6 students took to the stage for the much-anticipated Rostrum public speaking competition, and what an impressive showcase it was! Held on Tuesday, the event saw 11 confident students present their speeches to a captivated audience in the hall.
Rostrum is a renowned public speaking competition across the ACT, and our students demonstrated exceptional skill and poise as they addressed their peers, teachers, and adjudicators. The ability to speak with clarity, express ideas confidently, and engage an audience is a valuable life skill, and our students certainly showed they are up to the challenge.
We are proud to announce that the runner-up for 2025 was Eloise Sabin (Year 5), while the winner was Neve Ingram-Glass (Year 6). Neve will go on to represent Holy Trinity in the quarter-finals in the coming months, and we are all cheering her on as she takes the next step in this exciting journey.
The speeches covered a wide range of topics, from personal experiences to thought-provoking ideas, and each student delivered with passion and conviction. It was clear that their hard work and preparation paid off, and their growing confidence in public speaking was evident for all to see.
We congratulate all our participants for their outstanding efforts and thank them for sharing their voices with us.
Well done, everyone!
Jaimi Hudson & Tayla Hart
