We will also be participating in a Prayer Celebration, hosted by Year 2, celebrating all fathers, male role models and dad's in our hearts. Thank you to all our fathers and significant father figures in our lives who nurture, care, generously give of themselves and love us unconditionally every day. Our students are looking forward to shopping for their Dad at the Father's Day stall on Friday morning, please send in your gold coin donation.

Week 8 Learning Journeys
In Week 8 we will open our classrooms for Learning Journeys. This celebration of learning involves students taking parents and carers on a visit to their classrooms before or after school, on Monday September 9 and Wednesday September 11. Learners will celebrate their growth and showcase their learning across the curriculum, providing a window into the learning experiences and opportunities for meaningful conversations. Please mark the date in your diary as your child will love sharing their learning with you!
The Big Sing
Yesterday our choir spent the day at Charles Weston Primary School for The Big Sing, a gathering of PYP school choirs across ACT. Mrs Groom and the music teachers led the students in a day of music and singing which culminated in a combined performance for families. Special thanks to Mrs Groom for her support with the Holy Trinity Choir. See more information below.
Community Council
We have an active Community Council who take a keen interest in supporting and planning for the whole of the school community. The role of the Community Council is to work closely with the Principal to support the mission of Catholic Education at Holy Trinity.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday September 3 at 6.30pm in the staffroom. We welcome all parents and carers to join us to discuss topics of interest in an open forum.

Catholic Missions – Crazy Sock Fundraiser
Students were invited to wear crazy socks to school last Friday and bring a gold coin donation to support Catholic Mission. There was an explosion of colour walking the halls of Holy Trinity!
Catholic Missions collects donations for Church mission programs throughout the world and in Australia. School Mission Month fundraising activities are an important support for the work of Catholic Mission.
We loved seeing your crazy socks! Thank you for your support of this worthy outreach program.
Year 4 Visit to Trinity Murrumburrah
Year 4 had a wonderful visit to Trinity Catholic Primary School in Murrumburrah today! We are so grateful to the staff and students of Trinity for their generosity, warm welcome and kind hospitality. We participated in some ‘Paralympic Themed Games’, and enjoyed a delicious lunch together. Our students were enthralled by the chickens roaming the playground! We were all tuckered out on the journey home! We look forward to continuing this unique and valuable connection between our two schools.
Sacrament of First Eucharist – Presentation Masses
Our candidates for the Sacrament of First Eucharist attended a presentation mass at the Holy Trinity Church over the weekend. We keep these students in our thoughts and prayers as they prepare to make this sacrament.
First Eucharist Retreat Day – Friday 6 September (Week 7)
We look forward to our First Eucharist Retreat Day on Friday 6 September. All our Year 4 students from Sts Peter & Paul, Holy Trinity and candidates from other parish schools will participate in this Retreat Day. Year 4 students are invited to wear free clothes to school for this special day. No lunch orders please.

Working Bee
ELC and school community members are warmly invited to join our working bee on Saturday 31 August 2024, from 9:30am.
We will have sand and tanbark to wheelbarrow in ...and if that is not your thing, perhaps you are a handy baker and could provide something for the morning tea break?
Be sure to bring along your gloves, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows (if you have them). We look forward to seeing many little and big hands working together to make a difference.
ELC Facebook
Holy Trinity ELC now has a Facebook page, which we encourage you to follow. We will post updates, reminders and share some of the wonderful learning experiences that our children get up to.

A big congratulations to the children in the pictures below for winning ‘Best Dressed’ from their class in our annual Book Week Parade…
This week we also had the beautiful author/ illustrator / artist Aura Parker visit our school. Aura shared with the children her seven children’s picture books and then gave us a special reading of Bowerbird Blues and Twig/ Meercat Splash.
Bowerbird Blues has been a huge hit for Aura this year as it was used in the National Simultaneous Storytime and then it was shortlisted for Picture Book of the Year by the CBCA. Aura also shared with us the current book she is working on ‘Bowerbird Brood’.
Aura explained how a book can take up to 1.5 years to complete and that her book ‘Twig’ was the book that she feels most connected to.
At the conclusion of each session there was a fabulous illustration session with Aura. The children used charcoal to complete their step-by-step illustration.
Happy Reading,
Kate M xx
The Great Book Swap, in support of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
We ask all students to donate a book from their home library for The Great Book Swap.
On Wednesday 4 September 2024 we invite students to bring a gold coin (or note!) to school to spend at the Book Swap. Everyone will walk away with a ‘new’ book to read.
The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, learn more about Indigenous Languages and culture, while raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This event provides an opportunity to discuss with your children the literacy (and education gap) that exists for first nation Australians and why programs such as the Indigenous Literacy Foundation are essential. |

Oztag
On Tuesday this week we had a Year 3 team represent Holy Trinity at the Oztag Gala Day. The students represented Holy Trinity with great sportsmanship and progressed through to the grandfinal which they won 8-1. Congratulations to Isaac T, Milla G, Sam B, George L, Taj A, Ben V, Xavi N, Christian N, Alex M, and Evan L. A huge thank you to Jess Talbot for running the team on the day.
South Weston Athletics Carnival
On Wednesday the choir travelled to Charles Weston School for the inaugural PYP Big Sing. They spent the morning practising with the other schools both known and new songs and had a great time meeting new friends and experiencing singing in a large choir. The Holy Trinity students were fantastic ambassadors for our school. The culmination of the day was a concert for parents from all the schools and the Charles Weston students. We hope to have even more PYP schools in attendance next year and that the day becomes a regular feature on our calendar.
